Andrei Alexandrovich Sokolov (1918-1984) - Soviet opera singer (tenor). Soloist of the Bolshoi Theater (1953-1983). Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1968). Before the war, he studied piano at the Sverdlovsk Music College. In 1941 he interrupted his studies due to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. After the war, he graduated from the piano department of the school and entered the vocal department of the conservatory (class of teacher I. Vigasin, then F. Obraztsovskaya). He was a soloist of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic, from where he transferred to the Bolshoi Theater.
