Alexander Ivanovich Kleshchin (October 25, 1928, Kosa, Ural Oblast – April 25, 2005, Kudymkar) was the first professional Komi-Permyak composer and the founder of professional Komi-Permyak music. He created over 300 works, many of which are known far beyond the region's borders. His works were performed by the choir and orchestra of the Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theater in Perm, and the Komi-Permyak Ensemble he founded received the title of "People's Ensemble." In Moscow and Sverdlovsk, A.I. Kleshchin's ensemble repeatedly won first-degree awards. In Sverdlovsk, his vocal works were performed by the Ural Folk Choir. The composer successfully wrote music for theatrical performances. The play was a huge success in Estonia and Finland. The composer went on folklore expeditions throughout the region, collecting folk songs and tunes for the Komi-Permyak multi-barreled flute, the pelyan, making the pelyan himself and performing them on All-Union Television in Moscow in 1967. His song "Oy te Inva" was included in I. Travina's collection of Komi-Permyak folk songs (1973) as a folk song.
