Balabama is a Russian reggae-pop band. Their style is a blend of recitative, reggae, ska, and funk, with the addition of lyrical pop vocals. The band formed in the winter of 2007. Initially called Caerse De Risa (translated from Spanish as "to laugh until you drop"), they received a special prize from MySpace at the 2008 Indyushata festival. In May 2009, their lyrical ballad "Vesna" became the soundtrack for the STS television series "Ranetki," which expanded the band's audience. In November 2010, the band released their official debut music video for the song "Nadiya."
