Bierkapitän (born 1982 in Aachen; actually: Patrick Portnicki) is a German party pop singer. He also appears under the pseudonym Richard Bier. Patrick Portnicki used to work in sales at a dubbing agency. He is also the co-founder and lead singer of the hardcore punk band Start a Revolution. His singing style at that time was essentially influenced by Nathan Gray from Boysetsfire. On the way to a concert in Poland, the band listened to party hits and made fun of them. A member of a friend's band had also recently switched to hits. He visited him in his home studio and was also inspired there.
