Capital Cities is an indie pop duo from Los Angeles, California, formed by Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian. The group made their debut on June 7, 2011, with the single "Safe And Sound". The follow-up single "Kangaroo Court" was released on May 1, 2012. The group's debut album, In a Tidal Wave of Mystery, was released on June 4, 2013, through Capitol Records in collaboration with Lazy Hook. An EP, Swimming Pool Summer, was released on July 7, 2017. In 2014, Capital Cities opened for Katy Perry on her North American Prismatic World Tour. The group released the single "Skeleton Man" in October 2023.
