Danger Dan (born June 1, 1983 in Aachen; real name: Daniel Pongratz) is a German rapper. He is active both solo and as a member of the antelope gang. Daniel Pongratz grew up as one of four sons of the pedagogue Ludwig A. Pongratz in Aachen. His parents came from the left-wing scene, and his father later became a professor of education at the Technical University of Darmstadt. They encouraged his musical talent at an early age, just like that of his younger brother Tobias. Daniel Pongratz played in various punk bands at an early age, but also as a pianist in a funk band, while his brother discovered his love for hip-hop and brought him into contact with it.
