Ekaterina Dmitrievna Yashnikova (born December 20, 1992, Moscow, Russia) is a Russian singer, musician, songwriter, poet, and video blogger. She became widely known in 2016 after the release of the video for the song "I Will Remain Alone (or the Song of a Strong, Independent Woman)," which was posted on YouTube. Ekaterina began writing poetry and songs while still in school. In 2000, she registered an account on the portal Stihi.ru. Ekaterina began recording her first songs a cappella on her phone. On the advice of a friend, she began learning to play the guitar. Having created a YouTube channel, Ekaterina Yashnikova began uploading her first videos. In 2014, she formed the band Kanoka, which included her classmate Mikhail Cherednichenko (Michael Kalra) and Vladimir Popkov (Johnny). Under this pseudonym, she posted her first song on the social network VKontakte, entitled “Hurricane”.
