Jean Carlos Santiago, born on January 12, 1992 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, adopts his artistic name as the gentilicio of Guaynabo, which is a state of his country in which despite not being born there uses said name for its characteristic way of dressing; previously he called himself Jeanco el Guayna, but finally he left the name with which he is currently known. It became known for the first time in 2017 after making a freestyle video about Hurricane Maria, but it was not until early 2019 that its popularity exploded after its theme “Bounce” placed it on YouTube trends, becoming Top 10 in Spotify in several Latin American countries. His simple, beach and humble style characterizes him, and the basis of his success is to revive two subgenres of reggaeton that were already being forgotten: dembow and perreo.
