Hugh Bullen is a Trinidad and Tobago-born jazz bassist based in Italy. He began his musical career in 1966 at the age of 15 when he joined the band Soul Trinity with his brother Calvin. The band opened for Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, Graham Bond and the John Mayle Blues Band. Two years later, in 1968, he joined Joe E. Young & The Toniks. The group recorded an album called Soul Buster. In the early 1970s, Hugh Bullen moved to Italy. Here he worked with many great Italian songwriters such as Lucio Battisti, Antonello Vendetti, Aria, Eugenio Finardi, Ivan Graziani, Lucio Fabbri and Rocky Roberts. In 1978, he released a solo album with guitarist Franco Mussida (from the progressive group Premiata Forneria Marconi). He died on November 1, 2016.
