Jawoll compositions sheet music and chords
Jawoll was a Kassel band that achieved commercial success in German-speaking countries in the early 1980s as part of the Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave). Jawoll was founded in 1981 by Kornelia Scholz and Matthias Kutschke at the Kassel Art Academy. English guitarist Robert Foster initially suggested writing lyrics in English. Inspired by the band Ideal and Anette Humpe, the band members decided to continue writing exclusively in German. The band signed a contract with Rüssl Räckords, the label of comedian, musician, and painter Otto Waalkes. They gained attention through a television appearance on the popular music show Bananas. This was followed by the release of their only album, Jawoll, whose single "Taxi" reached the top 20 of the German singles charts. The album, named after the band, reached number 14 in the German charts.
