Klaus & Klaus is a German pop singing group. Klaus Baumgart met Klaus Büchner, singer of the band Torfrock, in 1980 and founded the duo Klaus & Klaus with him. Their first single, released in 1983, was the song There is a horse in the hallway (a new version of the Dutch carnival hit Er staat een Paard in de gang by André van Duin), with which the two of them made their first appearances on various television shows. The breakthrough came in 1985 with the single On the North Sea Coast, sung to the melody of the Irish folk song The Wild Rover. The duo was featured in numerous hit parades and the single and the long-playing record of the same name achieved gold status, each selling over 250,000 copies. The duo became winners in the ZDF hit parade and were guests on almost all of the major television music shows.
