Machete is a Ukrainian rock band created by the leader of the TOKYO group Yaroslav Maly in 2011. Initially, Machete was conceived exclusively as an Internet project existing in parallel with the TOKYO group. Yaroslav Maly, the leader of TOKYO, planned to move away from large concert and television formats when creating a new project. Musically, the group was supposed to perform songs that did not fit into the TOKYO repertoire. The first video, Tenderness, with the participation of actress Ravshana Kurkova, was low-budget, despite this it gained several tens of millions of views. Later, videos were filmed for the tracks Ne rasstavaytes and Papa. With them, the group went beyond the network and the original idea, getting into the rotation of major radio stations and TV channels. Based on the results of 2011, Kommersant Weekend named Yaroslav Maly for the Machete project the Internet hero of the year. In 2012, the group took part in Alla Pugacheva's Christmas Meetings, was nominated for the MTV Europe Music Awards, and received the Soundtrack award for the video "Tenderness" as the best video of the year.
