Monk Abel is a Russian pianist performing classical and sacred music. Born in St. Petersburg, he received a professional musical education. He graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music in piano, then honed his skills at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory. At the age of 20, he left for Mount Athos, where he spent seven years at the Dochiariou Monastery. In 2018, he returned to Russia and lived at the Valaam Monastery for nearly three years. He is currently actively involved in musical creativity and performs at concert venues in Russia and abroad. He has recorded over eighty music videos and released several albums. He gained fame through social media, where he has amassed over 500,000 followers worldwide. Monk Abel's repertoire covers a wide range: from Bach and Mozart to contemporary compositions. Among the popular works he has performed is Vavilov-Caccini's Ave Maria.
