Rafail Matveevich Khozak (March 4, 1928–1989) was a Soviet composer. He graduated from the Musical College at the Moscow Conservatory, then - the Gnessin Music and Pedagogical Institute (class composition, studied at the N. I. Peiko). The author of instrumental works, music for cinema (the most famous work is “Officers”) and drama theater. A significant part of the composer's works is related to the Jewish theme - suites for orchestra “Biblical” and “Heroes of Sholom Aleichem”, suites for violin and piano “Pages of Far Youth”, “Soul of Choreographer” (Jewish wedding pantomimes for viola and piano), “Jewish Lyrical Dances "(for string orchestra).
