Roberto Sánchez Ocampo (Buenos Aires, August 19, 1945 – Guaymallén, Mendoza, January 4, 2010), whose stage name was Sandro, also known as Sandro de América, Roberto, or El Gitano, was an Argentine singer-songwriter of melodic songs, rock and roll, and pop in Spanish. He is widely considered the father of Argentine rock for being one of the first rock artists to sing in Spanish in Latin America and is also one of the most important Argentine singers in history. He ventured into film several times as an actor and even as a director in a feature film, also based on his own screenplay, called Tú me enloqueces (You Drive Me Crazy).
