Sofia (Sonya) Babich is a Russian singer and model who gained widespread recognition for her talent and fortitude in battling cerebral palsy. Sofia was born in Tolyatti perfectly healthy, but after a vaccination as an infant, her condition worsened, and doctors diagnosed her with cerebral palsy. At age 15, she became known throughout the country after her video message to Vladimir Putin on "Direct Line" requesting a special exercise machine. Later, philanthropists helped her undergo rehabilitation courses in Germany and Greece, where she was able to take her first independent steps. Sofia has been singing since the age of six and has won numerous Russian and international competitions.
