The Wailers (translated from English. - "Mourners") - Jamaican vocal group. It was formed in 1963. Initially, it consisted of: Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley), Bunny Weiler, Peter Tosh, Junior Braithwaite, Beverly Kelso and Cherry Smith. In 1962, Bob and his friends, Bunny and Peter, auditioned for local entrepreneur Leslie Kong, who recorded several tracks with them in the studio. The following year, Bob gathered a group of friends. At first she had the name "The Teenagers" ("Teenagers"), then "The Wailing Rudeboys" ("Wailing Ore Fights"), then "The Wailing Wailers" ("Wailing Weeping"), and, finally, "The Wailers" ("Mourners").
