Valentin Sergeevich Levashov (1915–1994) was a Soviet Russian composer, choral conductor, and public figure. He was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR (1985). He was born in Moscow to a career military family. In 1939, he graduated from the Novosibirsk College of Music, majoring in piano and composition. In 1945–1946, he studied composition at the Leningrad Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov. From the first days of the Great Patriotic War, he led army song and dance ensembles, wrote songs, choirs, and arranged folk melodies. The composer's songs have been performed by many famous artists, including I. Kobzon, A. Grigoriev, V. Vuyachich, M. Boyarsky, E. Khil, L. Leshchenko, L. Zykina, M. Kristalinskaya, V. Tolkunova, A. German, K. Shulzhenko, and many others. Author of recordings and arrangements of Siberian folk songs.
