Valery Aleksandrovich Zubkov (August 18, 1939, Baku – July 6, 1985, Moscow) – Soviet composer, singer and pop pianist. Honored Cultural Figure of Chuvashia. He graduated from the Minsk College of Music, accordion class. After moving to Moscow, he worked as a pianist in the ensemble of Ruzhena Sikora, for whom he wrote his first song "With the First Snow" (released on record in 1963). Later, his other songs were performed by Iosif Kobzon, Lev Barashkov, Gelena Velikanova, Viktor Besedin, Kola Beldy, Nani Bregvadze, Anna German, Olga Pirags, the Akkord quartet, Stas Namin's group and others. The author of music for the films "Gypsy", "Fathers and Sons", "Invasion", "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn" and many popular songs: "Kalina is Bitter", "The Clock is Striking", "And You Love", "Singing Islands" and others.
