Viktor Alekseevich Usovich is a composer, Honored Artist of Russia and Buryatia, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Buryatia, secretary of the Union of Composers of Russia, and holder of the Order of Friendship. He graduated from the Ulan-Ude Music College named after P. I. Tchaikovsky (1969) in piano, and (1970) in the theoretical and composition department. He received his education at the Ural State Conservatory named after M. P. Mussorgsky (composition class of Professor B. D. Gibalin, 1975) and completed an assistantship-internship at the same conservatory (1979). Since 1976, he has been a member of the Union of Composers of Russia, held the positions of consultant and executive secretary of the Union of Composers of the Republic of Bashkortostan, and was also an authorized representative of the USSR and RSFSR Music Fund for the Republic of Bashkortostan. Viktor Usovich is the author of numerous songs, romances, musicals and music for dramatic performances.
