Vitaly Artemyevich Geviksman (February 11, 1924 Leningrad, RSFSR, USSR - January 17, 2007 Moscow, Russia) - Soviet and Russian composer, Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation (2003). The author of music for many films, mainly documentaries (Mongolia, 1954; Around Indonesia, 1955; One Hundred Days in Burma, 1957) and popular science, but also for several feature films (Chain Reaction, "Sashka") and cartoons ("Dragon", "Dragonfly and Ant", "Labyrinth", "Argonauts"). Created the operas The Master and Margarita and The Prince and the Pauper. A special place in the work of Vitaly Artemyevich was occupied by the music for the documentary series "The Great Patriotic War", and its main leitmotif was the song "Birch Dreams".
