Wes is a world music duo consisting of the ex-member of Deep Forest, Michel Sanchez, and the Cameroonian singer Wes Madiko. Madiko moved to France with his parents as a child. Their music is a mixture of folk and dance, with lyrics in Duala and English. They had their biggest hit in 1997 and 1998 with Alane (choreographed by Mia Frye). The single was particularly successful in Europe, in Germany it reached number two in the charts, in Austria and France it was a number one hit. The single I Love Football (Midiwa bol) made it into the European charts a second time, this time to middle positions.
