Yakov Lazarevich Feldman (pseudonym Ya.F. Eldman; 1884, Odessa - 1950, Moscow) - Russian and Soviet composer, conductor, coupletist, author of such romances as "Coachman, don't drive horses", "If you knew, dear", "The fireplace is out." After graduating from the music school of P. S. Stolyarsky in 1906, he worked as the second conductor of a number of orchestras, and also performed as a pianist and choirmaster. In 1912 he moved to Voronezh, where he began to lead the orchestra of the Bristol variety show. In 1914, in response to the romance "Drive, Coachman!" V. Semyonova wrote his own romance "Coachman, Don't Drive the Horses", to the words of Nikolai Von-Ritter. The romance was dedicated to A. S. Granskaya, who became its first performer; the composer himself accompanied her.
