Aleksandr Georgyevich Flyarkovsky (July 6, 1931, Leningrad - May 8, 2014, Moscow) - Soviet composer, author of more than 300 songs, many of which have become popular. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1986), Honored Worker of Culture of the People's Republic of Poland, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Cinematographic Arts "Nika". Member of the CPSU since 1959. Even in his student years, the composer took part in a folklore expedition to the Bryansk region and recorded about 100 folk songs there. Later, he showed a constant interest in folk songs, collected and recorded them in Altai and in other regions, processed them for choral singing. In 1970, at the World Book Fair in Canada, Flyarkovsky presented the collection “100 Russian Folk Songs”.
