Henry Mancini was an American composer, conductor, and arranger from the United States. He is widely known for film music and for classics such as The Pink Panther Theme and Moon River. For violin, his melodies remain expressive and memorable, and they continue to attract musicians who want elegant, recognizable repertoire.
His style combines film score, jazz, easy listening, and orchestral pop. Mancini’s works are closely linked to Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the Peter Gunn television series, and The Pink Panther film series. Moon River won Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year in 1961, and Days of Wine and Roses earned the same honor in 1963. His music helped define the 1950s–1980s, especially in the 1960s.
