Alla Pugacheva is one of the central stars of Soviet and Russian pop, active since the mid-1960s. Born in Moscow in 1949, she became known for a pure mezzo-soprano tone and vivid emotional delivery. Her songs helped listeners learn the feelings of several generations, and her repertoire includes “Monolog (Requiem),” “Love, Similar to a Dream,” and “The Candle Burned on the Table.”
Her music unites estrada, pop, Soviet estrada, and lyrical-dramatic song. These works are often chosen for piano. “The Candle Burned on the Table,” with music by Alla Pugacheva and words by Boris Pasternak, inspires interest in piano sheet music. Her stage legacy also invites musicians to play expressive melodies and lyrical ballads.
Among her achievements are the titles Honored Artist of the RSFSR, People’s Artist of the RSFSR, and People’s Artist of the USSR.
