Billa Joe (born Billy-Joe Basaulua in 1996 in Soest) is a German rapper. Billy-Joe Basaulua is the son of a Congolese father and an Italian mother. His grandparents ran an ice cream parlor. He grew up in Soest, then moved to Düsseldorf and later to Mönchengladbach. Early influences came from his father's Congolese music. He graduated from high school and enrolled at university, but at that time pursued his goal of making a living through music. In 2017, he released his first self-produced EP, Oniwa. In 2020, he released the EP Andere Hitze with RXCA. He joined the Scorpion Gang, founded by Summer Cem. In 2021, he released the compilation album Scorpion to Society with his gang members. He achieved his first chart successes starting in 2021 alongside Summer Cem. In 2022, his first mixtape, Traplife Balance, was released, reaching number 63 on the German charts.
