The Ramones were an American punk rock band formed in New York City in 1974. They were one of the earliest punk rock performers, influencing both the genre as a whole and many other alternative rock movements. The Ramones played 2,263 shows over 22 years and released 14 studio albums. The band broke up in 1996, playing a farewell tour with the Lollapalooza festival and releasing two final live albums, Greatest Hits Live and We're Outta Here!. In 2002, the Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
