Brothers Gennady Dmitrievich and Alexander Dmitrievich Zavolotin were Soviet and Russian musicians, composers, and folklore collectors, known for popularizing Russian folk music and ditties. They created the television program "Play, My Favorite Accordion!", which symbolized a revival of interest in folk culture. Gennady Zavolotin (1948–2001) was a People's Artist of the Russian Federation, composer, and virtuoso musician. He was the inspiration, author of over 700 songs, and the longtime host of "Play, Accordion." He died in a car accident on July 8, 2001, near the village of Novy Sharap in the Novosibirsk region. Alexander Zavolotin was a musician, composer, and his brother's closest associate. Together, they were at the forefront of their creative journey.
