Ilya Alekseevich Shatrov was a military musician, bandmaster, and composer linked with the Mokshan Regiment. He is best known for the waltz “On the Hills of Manchuria,” first written in 1906 and later shortened; its original title was “The Mokshan Regiment on the Hills of Manchuria.” flute
