Jah Khalib, the stage name of Bakhtiyar Mamedov, is a major Russian-language artist from Kazakhstan of Kazakh and Azerbaijani origin. Born in Almaty in 1993, he grew up with music and studied saxophone, which shaped his sound. On ukulele, fans often revisit songs such as “Princess and the Pauper,” “Vou-vou palekhche,” and “Jadua.”
His music blends hip-hop, rap, contemporary hip-hop, and pop-rap. Jah Khalib is known for hits including “Medina,” “Leyla,” “Constellation of an Angel,” “Princess and the Pauper,” and “Jadua.” The track “Princess and the Pauper” appeared on E.G.O. in 2018. Many listeners learn these songs by ear, while ukulele chords help play them more easily.
Among his achievements are the successful albums If Che, I’m Bakha and E.G.O., the 2017 Muz-TV Breakthrough of the Year award, and a Golden Gramophone in 2018 for “Medina.” He also tours widely across the CIS and beyond.
