Eduard Khil was a Soviet singer from Russia, born in Smolensk and later associated with the musical life of St. Petersburg. He became widely known as a leading popular vocalist, and his 1976 performance later turned into an internet phenomenon.
His style combines estrada, pop, and baritone vocals. He was especially known for popular Soviet songs, romances, and as the first performer of several works by Arkady Ostrovsky and Andrey Petrov.
Among his achievements are the first performances of songs such as “Lesoruby,” “Lunnyi kamen,” “Pesnya o druge,” “A lyudi ukhodyat v more,” and “Golubye goroda.” The song “Zhdi menya” is also linked with his name.
