Louis Armstrong was a US trumpeter and singer, one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century. His vocal style and warm delivery made him a lasting favorite, and his performances of What a Wonderful World, Hello, Dolly!, and When the Saints Go Marching In remain closely associated with his name.

He worked in jazz, dixieland, traditional pop, and vocal jazz. Armstrong was especially popular from the 1920s to the 1960s, with major public recognition in the 1960s.

His achievements include the first recording of What a Wonderful World in 1967, its release as a single the same year, and its later inclusion in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Hello, Dolly! and When the Saints Go Marching In became signature songs.
