Lewis Capaldi (born 7 October 1996) is a Scottish singer-songwriter. Capaldi achieved mainstream successes throughout 2018, and in 2019, reached number one on the UK Singles Chart with his single "Someone You Loved". On 18 February 2019 he announced his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, will be released on 17 May 2019. Capaldi learned to play the guitar when he was nine, and began his musical career singing in pubs aged 12. He released his debut extended play recording Bloom EP on 20 October 2017, where he worked with Grammy Award-winning producer Malay, a long-time collaborator of Frank Ocean.
