Igor Krutoy is a Ukrainian-Russian composer, producer, and music promoter born in 1954. One of the most in-demand authors in the post-Soviet space, he wrote over 300 songs and many instrumental pieces. His well-known Sad Angel became a signature lyrical work, and many musicians use such repertoire to learn expressive phrasing on flute.

Krutoy works in pop, estrada music, chanson, instrumental lyricism, and neoclassical crossover. He is a laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize and holds major honorary titles in Russia and Ukraine.
